who we are
Writers, poets, and editors. Readers, listeners, and romantics. We value freedom and emotion, expression and community.
We Are Fans of Sherlock Holmes.
The release of the final Sherlock Holmes stories into the public domain in January 2023 was a moment of liberation. That great detective who has resided many years in our hearts now well and truly belongs to the world, as does his indefatigable companion John Watson. They are ours now not only to cherish but to gift with new life.
We created this anthology to tell a story Arthur Conan Doyle never could have. Sherlock Holmes and John Watson were a united front against the ills of their world, and we want to give voice to the depth of that relationship which could not be expressed in adaptations until now.
Alexandra Fox (she/her) runs on caffeine and executive dysfunction. An American author and frequent expat, she loves travel, sweater weather, and em dashes. She has been enamored of Sherlock Holmes stories since she stumbled upon them in her hometown library thirty years ago. When she’s not working with fiction and poetry, she can usually be found singing poorly while walking her dog.
E.C. Boss (she/her) is a lifelong reader and believer in the power of art and story. She is a game designer, environmentalist and writer from the United States. She grew up reading all kinds of adventure fiction, and has long admired the observational powers of Sherlock Holmes and the companionship he found with his loyal Doctor Watson. When not nudging centuries-old sleuths into the present day, she loves to sing, bake and mess around with the yo-yo.
Rita Smith (she/her) is a storyteller by nature and a librarian by coincidence. She doesn’t remember a time when there hasn’t been a story occupying most of her brain space. She does, however, remember the time her mother had to stop reading The Adventure of the Speckled Band to her because of the SPOILERS. When she’s not concocting a story or sharing others’ stories with small people, she practices the martial arts and treads the boards in local theatre.
Sarah J. Lock (she/her) is an avid reader and writer, fueled by the need for adventure and the smell of books. She grew up loving mysteries and fell for Sherlock Holmes along the way. Aside from writing, she enjoys riding her motorcycle, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
